FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT STONEDECK

How much space does one panel cover?

Each panel is 16”x16” or 1.78 square feet.

How does it work?

Stone panels are laminated to a high stress composite material to give a thin lightweight structural panel.

How strong are they?

Panels tested for flexural strength will meet or exceed 5,000 lbs.

How are the panels cut?

The panels are cut with a diamond blade saw either wet or dry.

What if my spacing is off or isn’t 16” on center?

Joists can be added or nailers applied to the side of the joists, or a 1x sleeper can run perpendicular to the joist.

How much weight will this add to my deck?

StoneDeck will add 8 to 9 lbs per square foot.

What kind of maintenance does it require?

None.

Do you grout between tiles?

No. Grouting would impede drainage.

How does it hold up to freezing and heat conditions?

Each stone is submerged in water and tested through 100 cycles and exceeds ASTM standards. It withstands freezing and heat very well.

The panel of quarried stone surfaces are combined with space-age, high-strength composite materials to form a bond which lasts for years. The resulting lightweight panel is capable of spanning 16” of conventional on-center framing with amazing strength. StoneDeck™ can be used when retrofitting an old deck or building a new one. And StoneDeck™ can be installed by laying it over 6” of compacted granular base. The final assembly is a beautiful, durable, value-added, maintenance free decking system that provides years of enjoyment.

NOTE: StoneDeck™ installs over conventional treated lumber wood framing with joist spacing at 16" O.C. A dead load of 10 psf should be considered in the load calculations for the deck surfacing. StoneDeck™ meets all applicable building codes for a structural deck surfacing material.
